Gallery of Kazimierz Wiśniak in Lanckorona

Gallery offers a permanent exhibition of Kazimierz Wiśniak's works showing this unique artist's collection of drawings and illustrations inspired by Lanckorona landscape.

The famous painter, graphic artist, illustrator, stage designer, co-founder of Krakow's "Piwnica pod Baranami"* living in Lanckorona for years edits and creates illustrations for local "Kurier Lanckoroński" newspaper. He was the first to be awarded with Honorary Citizen of Lanckorona distinction and honoured the first to be named "Anioł Lanckoroński" ("Angel of Lanckorona").

In Gallery of Kazimierz Wiśniak, located in Cafe Pensjonat in the Lanckorona market square one can see his drawings presenting everyday life of the town, such as important local events. We can see the monuments of Lanckorona with the artist's eyes, most characteristic places and byplaces of Lanckorona and its surroundings, and also angels and fairytale illustrations depicting legends of Lanckorona accrding to Wiśniak.

* The Piwnica pod Baranami (English: The Basement, or the Cellar under the Rams) is a Polish literary cabaret located in Kraków, Poland. For over thirty years, in the People's Republic of Poland, Piwnica pod Baranami served as the most renowned political cabaret in the country, until the end of (and beyond) the communist era.
